F.E.A.R. And Epidemics

Are you fearful? Swine flu, (H1N1)? How about the economy? Maybe this will relax you a bit. I hope it ticks you off too!

The fear mongering politicians and media seem to have united. But why should we doubt them? Isn’t the evidence of the flu and the economy prevalent for us all to see?

Those who would instill fear in us are those who wish to control us. I’ve long believed that and take any fear mongering with everything from a grain of salt to shaker of great skepticism.

I’m no Pollyanna, in fact I’m fast becoming either a terrific realist or a god-awful cynic. I don’t think it’s the latter. But I’ll spare you my self-analysis . . . for now.

I would like to scream to the world, “Don’t trust ANY politician or the media. STOP it!  Be a critical thinker, let your motto be, “Doubt before belief.”  Be an open-minded skeptic.

Oh, but you may say, shouldn’t we be forewarned about Swine flu, the horrific economy, the poor people out of work and the rest of us who could find ourselves in line for shelter and Salvation Army handouts?

Observant? Yes. absolutely. Watch and be aware of what’s going on around you. That’s one of the core teachings in “Your Inner Wizard” work. Of course there is rampant job loss . . .uh, wait a minute. Yes, tens of thousands are out of work. But aren’t millions and millions still with jobs? Hmmm.

Retirement funds have been decimated. Yes, true. But many had money elsewhere too. Not everyone was wiped out. The stories of great loss and retirements lost are sad beyond measure. But it isn’t the whole world.

The human spirit, when engaged becomes innovative. Apathy defeats spirit and only conscious awareness can bring that back. So it becomes a choice. Swim in the reservoir of FEAR being showered down on us by these mostly aforementioned unscrupulous entities, or find your own counsel and become more innovative and hence, less controlled.

You can have spirit or you can fear it. Fear what the media political hacks are showering on us. We are controlled by them, if we so allow, as the politicians who go to great lengths to justify their draconian measures in order to make you beholden to them, and then both feed off one another.

We reward the media and our representatives by accepting them at face-value, without checking those things that most deeply affect us. Google is our tool for advocacy and self-preservation . . . if we consciously choose to use it as we separate fact from fear.

My real hope here is to get us to rethink our fears. To step back. To look at the so-called dire situations.

You may have read my previous blog about F.E.A.R. and I don’t mean the now cliched acronym “False Evidence Appearing Real” either. That’s just silly. See “F.E.A.R.(less) – First Evaluate According to Risk” in the Justin Times.

Now, I’m no health expert and I invite you to ignore what I do and keep your own counsel. But here’s the deal with me.

I’m 63 and haven’t had a prescription drug in at least 25 years, except for post dental pain. I’ve never had a flu vaccination or a vaccination of any kind, except in the army, where I had no choice.

My mother is 95 and has the same history with vaccinations. Until recently she only took two medications. She now has four, two for high blood pressure, which she takes sparingly. She’s smoked since she was 16 and partied hearty through her ‘70s. She’s had three hospital stays in her adult life, not including three pregnancies. She suffers from age related macular degeneration. Her mind is sharp her conversation witty.  The young staff in her retirement home invites her to their parties.

Dad died at age 74. He too was a heavy smoker and seldom drank less than anyone else around him. His first major indication of illness was death from heart failure. Also vaccination free with no adult hospitalizations except for injuries in a car and a plane crash.

I’ve never smoked and am a moderate drinker. No matter what happens from this point on, I’ve been very fortunate. Knock on wood. I’ve been in a plane wreck, motorcycle crash, car roll over, and I’ve been shot and kidnapped at knife point . But so far the organs have held out and I’ve never even broken a bone.

I point this out because the world of modern pharmaceuticals have a stake in our fear. They would us take a drug for almost everything, including the fear of “pandemics.” They throw that up at as every 20 years or so. Pharmaceutical companies pass out their newest drugs and vaccines and then take credit for something that didn’t happen and likely wouldn’t have any way.

There is an article on the current Swine flu (H1N1) “epidemic” by a highly respected MD, Dr. Joseph Mercola, who is not in the big pharma camp. Take a look at his article here. I know you’ll be enlightened by it.

Between epidemics and the economy, we have our hands and minds full.

In the ‘60s, one of the Hippie mantras was, “Question authority!” Today that should be our adult mantra.

I thank you for sharing this information, I live in Mexico City where F.E.A.R. had just recently taken a fifthteen days holiday, my observation is how easyly 20 million people can be treated like childrens! My experience is that nothing of this “pandemia” was really happening, it was a play performed in a big scenario (the biggest City of the world in extension). I love your adult mantra. Thanks again.

Thank you, Rita for your comment. It’s especially important, given where you live now. Granted, there seems to be more “danger” there, but not nearly in the extreme that the media and governments have made it out to be. The more they can make you fear the more they can control you with, which goes on until we disallow it.

Thanks for the useful info. It’s so interesting

This has been my thought for some time now, so thank you for expressing it so well. I am suspicious of ‘conspiracy theories’ in general, but it does seem to me that there IS now a world-wide concerted attempt to control us through manufactured scare stories, and it is difficult to discern whether this has come about through a natural tendency toward sensationalism in the media, or is actually co-ordinated in some way. In the last few years we have been told that are lives are threatened by bird flu, swine flu, salt, cholesterol, fuel crises – you name it.

And then of course there is the ‘big one’ – global warming. Here in the UK, despite lower than average summer temperatures and higher than usual rainfall for several years now, we are still being threatened with heatstroke, water scarcity and desertification of our ‘green and pleasant land’, in ever louder and shriller tones. There is mounting evidence that the human contribution to climate change is probably not that enormous, and of course the climate is always changing, but anyone who puts their head over the parapet and questions the ‘global warming’ dogma is attacked as if they were holocaust deniers.

Sadly for the doom merchants it seems that they may have cried wolf one time too many, and mention of ‘pandemics’ or ecological disaster in the news now seems to elicit more cynicm or laughter than concern. Of course that won’t stop the scare stories – there are still plenty of sheep to frighten, one way or another.

  5. Tom says:

Rex, that’s a thoughtful and non-inflammatory way to look at the powerful influences that we are surrounded by. When Regan said about the Soviets, “Trust but verify,” it’s a phrase we can use for all important areas of our life.

  6. Rex says:

Hi Tom. Generally I tend to verify, THEN trust! Unfortunately even my relatively poorly developed intuition tells me that most of what I am fed by politicians and the media is garbage, so trust is regrettably getting a little thin on the ground for me.

  7. Tom says:

You can increase your odds in any important/urgent situation with a third party. Be an open-minded skeptic, verify as best you can, learn to use/trust your intuition using Your Intuitive Click, and for high level change use the F.E.A.R. index to help finalize your decision.
