Why New Year Resolutions Don’t Work!

Posted by: Tom    in Finding YIW

If you’ve read much of my writing, either on my blogs or my books, by now you know that I believe we can all do magnificent things. So why that heading?

Most people can’t make sudden and dramatic changes, even if their behavior is hurting them and the ones they love. Even if their health or finances are in danger.

Here’s the good news, you’re not most people. Neither am I. We write and read things like this to explore the possibilities. Sometimes we even (surprise!) take action.

Yet New Year’s resolutions are to goals what empty calories are to nutrition. They may look and taste good, even give you a sugar high for a short time, but in the end, it’s mostly a waste of time.

But there are ways to plan and get what you want, or at least get the edge on what you desire.

I had 300 people in a seminar once and I asked this question: “How many of you have made New Year’s resolutions and actually took action on every one of them?        How about 50% of them?”

One person raised his hand on the first question but admitted that “every one” was only total of  two, and his action lasted only a short time, seeing no success in keeping his resolutions. Four people admitted to 50% action but only one person achieved any significant results.

This may sound like a contradiction, but I believe in writing down goals, making whole lists of them! At least that implants the idea of a little more depth in your psyche. And while there are lots of great goal setting systems, I’m not talking about that, just the New Year resolution kind. I suggest just one.

Creating a whole list of resolutions is like writing to Santa as an adult without children. You may as well lay out cookies and milk on December 24, then consume them yourself. Santa ain’t coming. Sorry.

Just One Thing

Find the one thing in your life that is the most frustrating to you. If you’ve felt that it’s unsolvable, take another look at it. If you still feel that it’s overwhelming  take another look at it.

Write out any steps you could possibly take that would make a difference. If it would take more money than you have or think you can have, write it out anyway. In fact, forget about why you might not be able to solve this frustration, just write out what it would take to do it, regardless. Just for that one thing. That one very important resolution.

I call these solutions without obstacles. The very act of writing this out can begin a plan. It can create “ahas” that show you possibilites, and there are always possibilities.

Just take that one thing and begin it. Write out a list of the ideal people you know or anyone, living or dead, famous or or not who might have the solution or could help you find it.

This will help you power up your imagination. Napoleon Hill wrote about masterminding with anyone and everyone. Whether they were available or not. Play with it. Ask yourself what the most successful person in the world might suggest to you. It can be truly amazing.

One of the events that can happen from this is that it will trigger your intuition to go where you might not otherwise have gone to find the solution.

Get “The Edge”

Getting “The Edge” In Reaching Any Success

You have the edge over most other people in. . .something. You may know something that your competitors don’t. You could have a connection in business that enhances your possibilites of success. Or, you might have read a book that helped you at a specific time and place to WIN.

“The Edge” is something all winners in life search for. And believe me, every success story you’ve ever read has embedded in it, whether revealed or not, some edge that brought that person over the top.

The mistaken assumption that is often made is that having an edge means an unfair advantage, or making it so that someone has to lose while you win or the other way around. Not so!

You’ll have the edge if your applying for a job at a Fortune 500 company with an advanced degree. Of course, that alone won’t guarantee that you’ll get the job, but all other factors being somewhat equal, you’d likely beat out the BA with an MBA.

What’s your primary goal or desire for this coming year? After you’ve written it down, write out what edge you have now. What do you know or what could you have that would increase your odds of getting what you want? If you can’t think of one, what edge would help you?

Maybe you need to know someone you don’t know. Who do you know who could introduce you to that person or that kind of person? You may have to really think about this, but your connections are far more vast that you likely realize.

Is there a book, seminar, course, or networking group that might further your likelihood of getting to your intention?

We all have a built-in “edge.” I call it “The Wizard’s Edge,” for that Inner Wizard in us all. It’s the combination of intuition and life’s lessons that we don’t always know how to call up. Nevertheless, so much is there and available.

There’s a free report on how to use the basics of this technique, if you don’t have it yet, at YourInnerWizard.com.

Why Humbug? – And Your Gift

Posted by: Tom    in Finding YIW

Humbug Update And Our Future

Here are a few things to review and some notes on the future. Plus my gift (see below) for you, just in case you missed it.

You may have noticed from my various blog articles that I have eclectic interests. I realized that almost everything that I’ve done came from my studies and experiences in personal growth and development.

If you’ve been with me for awhile you’ve seen that. Your Inner Wizard is about success and failure’s beginnings. They begin from within.

The good news is that we can go back and restart any time we like. I don’t mean a major life adjustment, but going “back” and getting the proper mindset to accomplish what we were attempting that wasn’t working.

So, with that in mind, let’s look at present and future ideas, concepts and opportunities together.

Why Humbug? – And Your Gift

My holiday greeting was titled, “Bah Humbug! Really? Here’s why. . .”

Have you ever over indulged in too much of a good thing. You know, like eating lots of sweets, heavy meals, not much exercise, then just crashing? Well, Happy Holidays!

But hey, why not? This is the time for that, food, fun, friends, and family.

I love this time of year for all the good things that go with it. Why then did I write a “humbug” article a couple of weeks ago? See if you agree and let me know. You can pick up my holiday gift and read my humbug article right here:
http://budurl.com/BahHumbug

ALSO: Here’s a preview of some coming events/articles

Why New Year Resolutions Don’t Work!

If you’ve read much of my material, by now you know that I believe we can all do magnificent things.

The rest of this article will be available soon.

From Fat To Thinner and Fit – The Possibilities

Okay, I let myself go. . .and for too long now. I’m well fed and fed up!

I’m starting the writing of a new book the first of the year, which means even more time sitting and typing. So, I’ve made up my mind. I’m slimming down.

I used to be a partner and Sr. VP of marketing in a multi-million dollar health and nutrition company. We had some of the best scientists from UCLA and elsewhere on our advisory board. While I can’t claim to be an expert in that world beyond marketing, I do know the scams when I see them and I enjoy finding the innovators.

I just purchased a product that was devised by a man whose reputation I greatly respect. I’m reviewing it now. If I like what I see I’ll become an affiliate and then tell you and the rest of the world. More to come, for sure.

The Simplest, Yet Most Powerful Principle. . .

I’ve had some huge failures and some great successes in my life. While I don’t relegate these things to just money and material goods, those items do come in handy from time to time.

I’ve studied a bit about Eastern philosophy and application of mind principles that sometimes seem to defy logic, especially when they work.

Many of the principles from “Think And Grow Rich” to “The Secret,” manifestation and the law of attraction (LOA) contain these ancient success teachings of the East.

But the simplest nugget of information that at once reduced my stress and made achievement easier and more frequent (when I remembered to apply it) I learned in less than 30 minutes.

But it was so simple, frankly, had it not been for the weekly mastermind group I was in at the time, I might have taken down the note and never realized it’s incredible power.

Though I’ve taught it in courses and seminars and with all my personal clients, I may not have given it the emphasis it deserved. I won’t make that mistake now.

This is the primary principle that’s saved me from self-destruction and other forms of danger. It’s the one technique that I can give credit for that can instantly reduce my stress, even in the most difficult situations and give me greater clarity.

Look for the article announcement soon.

Also In The Works – “The Wizard’s Edge”

We all need an edge in life, this technique is all natural and variations of have been used by the most successful people in the world and in  all of history.

This program will never stop being improved. I’ll be announcing a special for you as my new year offer.

I’m fashioning the “Your Inner Wizard” website around this work and I’ll be expanding it more for my members into 2010.

The principle of the Inner Wizard in us all will be constantly explored. The two areas for this are self-growth and material success.

The only people who are reading this piece are those looking to advance in their lives, either from a mind/body perspective or financially. Of course, the latter incorporates the former. We need that balance.

We are all marketers, whether we are trying to influence a potential mate, get a job, a raise, or market to the masses, we must market (sell) something to succeed. Even if it’s just ourselves as the product.

Those satisfied where the are or who are in dead end jobs with no hope (because they don’t know their own power) are not reading this or did not read this far.

Some of these people are actually happy and fulfilled and want nothing more. Who else will serve us breakfast at our favorite coffee shop or do our dry cleaning, pick up the trash and all the extraordinarily important services that we all take for granted?

Do not for one moment think that I’m putting anyone down here. This is the way our world works and it can work quite well. I’ve seen service people come alive when they relied how much more powerful they can be. And I’ve seen extraordinary happiness from some doing a menial job that might drive you or me a little nuts.

What I’m sorry for are those unhappy souls who, in their misery, can see no way out, no pathway to happiness. What I’m thrilled about is that so many have come through me, my associates, my mentors and anyone doing this kind of work. AHAS and realizations abound everywhere! It’s a joy to see this discovery in others too.

This I know; there’s something for everyone and someone for everyone. I love the exploration. If you do too, I think you’ll be enjoying our journey together as a member of this very special interest group we’ve formed.

More (much more) to come!

Reminder: If you haven’t yet picked up your gift,  “How To Take No For An Answer And Still Succeed,” it will be removed soon and go back to it’s $27 pricing.

NOTICE: Are You a member of our group? Be sure to get updates and special offers only for our members. It’s free-just register in the box on the upper right hand side of this page.

Bah Humbug! Really? Here’s why. . .

Posted by: Tom    in Finding YIW

Note: There is also a link below for my gift to you, in case you didn’t get it yet.

Bah Humbug! Really? Here’s why. . .

gift_box I like to think that I practice being grateful. Sometimes, when things aren’t going well, I have to think about it and find grateful reasons, and I’m talking beyond positive thinking here. It’s not always easy, is it?

Thousands of people have trusted me enough to be on my list. Some of you have remained for years through stuff you may not have liked, but because you saw enough you did like, you stayed.

I am more than grateful for you, all of you, new members or long timers. Some of you are customers, some are just present and seeking new information and some of you are interactive with me.

Over the years some of you have become one-on-one clients and we’ve developed our own unique relationships. Others have written to me privately and/or on the public comments of my various blogs. I am most grateful for it all.

Why the “Bah Humbug?” title. I keep getting these corporate email Holiday Greeting notes or group “cards” from places I’m subscribed to or where I’ve purchased things from. What does that mean?

We can now send a note to everyone or selected groups on our lists with the push of a button. We can put lovely graphics on (or have our graphics department do it) and zap, everyone gets their “cards.”

I even got one “F-R-E-E Gift” notice with a nice bow and “Holiday Greetings” note. All I had to do to collect my “F-R-E-E” gift was to buy a $97 product. Hmm? How do you spell unsubscribe? I hit that button fast.

I even get “Personal” notes. Mass mailings from some guru or CEO. How is that personal? To them, and the dollars for F-R-E-E-Gift-givers, I say BAH HUMBUG!

To you, all I can say in this impersonal grouped message is thank you. I am truly grateful for your new or continued presence.

One of the reasons I’ve given away the digital versions of my book, “How To Take No For An Answer And Still Succeed,” even though many others have paid $27 for it, is that now, more than ever, it may prove very helpful for those in troubled times. It was written to help people overcome rejection in all its forms, i.e. disappointment, humiliation, and failure.

Also, for those who have the book, I’ll be announcing a deep discount on the audio book, just for you, as soon as it’s available.

The link for the book is below, impersonal though this may be.

So, my anti-bah humbug is in this full disclosure. This message was sent to you all. It’s only personal in my deep appreciation for you as a part of this group. Of course, to some of you whom I’ve come to know and who’ve taken the time to interact with me, an even deeper gratitude exists, customers and non-customers alike.

Thank you all. We’re all in this together as we try to make our worlds better places to be by increasing our unique personal powers for ourselves and our loved ones.

Merry Christmas
Happy Hanukkah
or just. . .
Happy Holidays!

More power to you,

Tom

Things You Might Like, And Might Like To Know

Posted by: Tom    in Finding YIW

Here are some recent items that you might have missed the past couple of weeks, including some absolutely free gifts, ideas, techniques and at least one LOL.

Tough Times And How To Overcome Them

Failure is one of the most important benefits for any success. Within every failure lies a nugget of information that can carry the failed to the success they desire.

How many successful people, inventions, techniques, or formulas of any kind were right the first time? Except for “mistakes” or unexpected discoveries, none that I know of and likely very few.

The secret? Failure is not the problem, quitting is.

One afternoon, before giving a keynote speech in New York City, something happened on a walk that changed my life.

0963040189CoverThe result of that became the most popular seminar I’ve ever given and then later a book titled, “How To Take No For An Answer And Still Succeed.” Celebrities from Larry King to Jack Canfield gave the work a thumbs up, as have readers from around the world.

I got the rights back to the book and then turned it into a digital version. We sold more copies at $27 in a few months online than the original publisher sold in two years in its printed form for $19.95.

Now, I’m offering that as my Christmas or Season’s gift to you and yours. It really can help you through the most difficult times. Zero charge or obligation

An Amazing Customer Service Story

Do you know anyone who has to deal with real live customers every day? Especially this time of year. It’s not easy.

I was shocked to find that one of my most popular articles, now read by thousands all over the world was about one of the most unique customer service stories I’ve ever witnessed. It was really powerful. Read it here:

Why Would You Give $5.00 (or more) To Help Some Actors You Don’t Know?

Maybe because I too struggled as a starving actor and entertainer in my early 20’s do I empathize and admire those who tough it out.

My best friend is a world renown acting coach, Scott-Arthur Allen. The story of how he got a number of his workshop students in a feature motion picture is really great.

What’s also great is that film has been selected by the prestigious Sundance Film Festival as an entry in January.

If you’d like to get a “ride-a-long” with these actors as they venture into this incredible experience, some of them need help to get there. Your donation of $5.00 or more would be a great assist. You can see more about that here:

Funny, Helpful, And Revealing

Certificate2Here’s something I had an absolute blast doing. It turned out to be LOL for a lot of people, but also helpful for others.

It’s all about procrastination and it’s all zero cost. The media release will tell you more. If you get the package, again at no charge, and read it and don’t find yourself at least amused, please unsubscribe from my list.

: )  Just kidding, we may not all have the same senses of humor, but I think you’ll enjoy this. Procrastinators Anonymous:

If you like success stories, show biz, movies and overcoming adversities, I think you’ll love this story.

Also, you’ll have a chance to live vicariously through some gifted young (and one not so young) actors as they attend Robert Redford’s prestigious Sundance Film Festival in a couple of months. More on that later.

The Story

Scott-Arthur Allen was one of the top-rated acting coaches in “Hollywood.” For many years it was often hard to get a seat in his ongoing classes.

A successful actor himself, Scott-Arthur discovered his own unique gift for teaching and eventually turned down parts so he could devote more time to his Creative Actors Workshop in L.A.

Workshop

Creative Actors Workshop Recent Class

After numerous pleas from former students turned stars to become a manager, he finally caved in, dividing his time between his workshop and what became a successful personal management company, Gentle Force Artists Group.

Scott-Arthur’s reputation preceded him as he was quickly accepted into the prestigious Talent Manager’s Association as a member and then later president of the group.

Having met or exceeded his goals in Hollywood, it was only natural that he move to Springfield Missouri, right?

WHAT! Okay, here’s where the story really shifts.

Scott-Arthur has been my best friend for over 30 years. If it’s true that a true friend is someone who knows everything about you and likes you anyway, well, that’s us. I was best man at his wedding and we talk almost daily from wherever we may be. We share our opinions with one another easily and without hedging.

I’m a long time marketing strategist and an intuitive. I’ve been paid a lot of money over the years for my opinions and ideas. See, that’s me, all puffed up in the mirror, there.

Now see me deflating. Because I was so wrong this time.

Elizabeth, his wife and a gifted actress/teacher in her own right is from the Springfield/Branson area. When they went back for her mothers funeral eight years ago, they felt called to move there.

There they were, at the top of their game on the most difficult show biz turf in the world, ready to chuck it all for a move to. . .Springfield!

When he told me, I laughed. Then he said he was serious and I tried to talk him out of it.

Okay, long story short. He didn’t listen to my free advice and they moved. Not only that, but he opened his professional  acting studio in Springfield.

A professional acting studio in Springfield? What?

Student Annalise Basso On The Set

Student Annalise Basso On The Set Of "Lie to Me"

Then, within an amazingly short period of time, he not only filled up his class, he had to add new ones, and then more. Not only were there waiting lists, the word got out. He opened classes in St. Louis where there are waiting lists there now too.

Pretty soon, filmmakers interested in Southern Missouri locations began consulting him. Since his reputation of turning out quality actors was also well known, more and more began requesting casting calls from actors he would recommend as ready.

Then, something really extraordinary happened, and this is where you and the Sundance Film Festival come into play.

A feature motion picture, “A Winter’s Bone” was shot in the Springfield Branson area. Award winning director Debra Granik and her production team begin casting local talent. At first they intended mostly background, extras for the film, as the story from the book of the same title occurs in that region.

However they decided to  see what talent was available in the area, Springfield and Kansas City, for some of the major roles and also putting out the call to LA and New York.   After interviewing over  a hundred actors they called back 27 seven actors from the Creative Actors Workshop.

An unprecedented number of actors came from that single source, the workshop. In fact, given all the actors the production company had access to in both Hollywood and New York, the odds of what happened within this local talent pool are astronomical.

Five of his actors were chosen for various roles: Lauren Sweetser a starring role Casey MacLaren a supporting role Cody Brown had a supporting role Charlotte Lucas had a supporting role And Brandon Gray a feature role.

The producer and director were amazed at the quality and professionalism of these actors and were extremely thankful to the Creative Actors.

On The Winters Bone Set

On The Winters Bone Set

Of course you don’t know any of these names . . . yet. Four of them are young dedicated artists, with one “slightly” older actress who has discovered a new career, Charlotte Lucas. Another great story in the making here, but more on that another time.

Some of them are working part or full time jobs, attending acting class, school, etc. Most of them plan on moving to LA or New York to join other alumni of the workshop who are living and working there now.

Here’s where you come in. Sundance is a huge opportunity for these actors. While productions might pay for a star to attend, the other players have to pay their own way.

For those who donate, any amount will do, you’ll get a personalized email from each of the actors with their thanks. You’ll also receive Sundance Updates as the festival and the cast experience this highly selective event.

A bank account at Peoples Bank in Nixa Mo. has been set up under Local Actor’s Fund or you can use your credit or debit card at the Creative Actors Website and on the home page you will see actors fund or just click the button below.

Then, keep an eye on the careers of these budding working actors and maybe even stars. One day you may be able to say that you had a hand in helping them achieve their place.

Please click here to donate and get on the Sundance/Creative Actors Adventure updates

Any donations in excess of their needs will be donated to a 501 C3 charity. All doners will be notified of the outcome.

Side Note: Scott-Arthur Allen, since moving to Springfield and building this successful workshop with Elizabeth, has already gone through a serious bout of prostate cancer, then after he recovered, open-heart surgery. Still they’ve built this extraordinary success story.

Today, you’ll find him working out vigorously, as he’s done all his life, living a full-out life in great health. He is truly one of the most extraordinary people I’ve ever known and am so very proud to be his friend.
